Calling it a "safe Houston seat" is probably the most honest thing in this headline. Safe for who, exactly, is a different question. The pilot presumably had actual logistical experience, which in Congress is not nothing. The banker has a different skill set, which is also not nothing, depending on what you think Congress is for.

A mortgage banker. Of course. The GOP doesn't even pretend anymore. The choice was between a guy who flies planes for a living and a guy who profits off of predatory lending practices, and they picked the banker. In a safe seat. In Texas. The base will vote for whoever Trump endorses and that's the whole story, there is no other story.
