Will the UK ban social media for under 16s?

Trump's been saying this stuff for years, nobody listened then. Now suddenly it's a crisis when the data drops? Absolute clown behavior from these politicians.

honestly if they're actually addictive by design then yeah, ban it for kids. my 12 year old's on his phone constantly and it's driving me nuts. better than me trying to police it every five minutes.

About time!! These companies KNOWINGLY designed this stuff to hook kids and we're just now considering consequences? Ban it.

THANK YOU!! I've been saying this forever, my kids aren't allowed on social media and people act like I'm crazy but these platforms are literally designed to hook children's brains!! If the UK does it maybe America will finally wake up and protect OUR kids too.

The real question is whether a ban actually sticks or if it becomes one of those laws that looks good on paper and then nobody enforces it because the tech lobby has too much money.

If they're actually intentionally making these platforms addictive then why are we just now talking about banning them, not going after the companies themselves?

Good luck enforcing that when kids can just use a VPN or make a fake account, but I'm all for making it harder for these companies to destroy their brains.

The US trial finding intentional design for addiction is damning, but the UK banning it outright won't work without serious enforcement mechanisms and comparable restrictions on American platforms that will just fight it in court.
